about

To commemorate ten years of the debut "Growth and Squalor", I dug through the vault to find the first ever demo recordings I did for this project. Four of these songs ended up being fleshed out and released on that debut, but the other three never were. While these recordings are a bit rough around the edges - (and admittedly a bit painful for me to listen to) - some people appreciate such things, and so here we are.

I never expected "Growth and Squalor" to be received the way it was. While I was writing/recording it, it felt like my musical soul was in transit. A steady push and pull between genres of music that I never truly knew if I belonged in. It was a wonderful experience, tackling a project almost entirely on my own for the first time. I'm immensely proud of the songs that ended up on the record, and grateful that people still mention them to this day. Thanks for all the love over the last decade.

These songs were (crudely) recorded in Garageband in my very first post-college apartment. It was a weird time.

about

Accents Albany, New York

Accents was an indie-folk band on Deep Elm Records from 2012-2016 formed by TJ Foster of The Cast Before the Break. He no longer makes music under the moniker, but his new band E.R.I.E. sounds a bit like this.
